Overview

Gorong boasts one of the most min-maxed statlines in the game. With bulk and power comparable to Yowlar, it's a formidable foe that cannot be underestimated nor left alone, as it will end up giving itself attack boosts through its Tireless trait. Seismic offers a unique option for swapping in, but Gorong cannot knock out an opposing Temtem with the damage Seismic provides. Gorong occasionally struggles lacks actual coverage, only having melee attacks and a low-power neutral type technique, so this weakness should be considered when teambuilding.

Description

Gorong is a super straightforward mono melee Temtem that was blessed with great base stats. With a high Hp stat sitting at a remarkable 86 combined with an immense defense stat of 100 and a respectable special defense stat of 64, Gorong is nothing short of a tank that hits.

TV Spread
Maximizing the Health of such a Temtem should be the norm as it allows it to take full advantage of its natural bulk.
This Gorong's Stamina is intenionally scuffed (aka lowered) down to the number of 4. This allows for a turn 1 tireless proc with the use of either mom's lunch or morale-boosting whip. ( Note: This would not work on the ladder due to autoscaling. To proc tireless on ladder your only means is to go about making use of rush )
The attack TVs are the leftovers after the Spdef investment. The spdef investment allows you to take two beta bursts from Barnshe. This calc doesn't take into account the heavy armor item, however. With that item, Gorong is now able to take two beta bursts from Nagaise.

Item
The item of choice for this set is heavy armor, as it nullifies damage from all sources by 10%. This item can be easily swapped to double screen if you do want to make use of the speed buffs that you'll be receiving from the morale-boosting whip, which should already be somewhere on your team.

Temtem Friends
Raignet is the perfect ally for Gorong. It threatens the mentals and digitals that hit Gorong super effectively while also providing Wretching massage synergy and perfect jab support. Raignet should most definitely hold either the moms lunch or the morale-boosting whip.

Shaolant is loved by any Temtem that is looking to setup in some way with the evasion it provides. It is also a great candidate for holding either of the stamina reduction items.
Kinu is has been running both mom's lunch and whip for a while now, and providing this already super tanky monkey with +1 in both defenses is huge for it.

Temtem Foes

Gorong, being a pure melee with only melee moves and no access to Dim Mak, hates any Tem that resists its melee moves and can hit back with at least neutral moves. The worst Tem for Gorong to go up against would be Mushook, due to its parrier trait and wastewater being in its moveset.

Description

(1.3 DUKE'S NOTES - THIS THING IS LESS BULKY BUT STILL AN ABSOLUTE UNIT, VERY GOOD WITH VOLGON IF WRENCHING MASSAGE IS CHOSEN.)

Tireless survived the nerfs to boosting traits and techniques in 0.9.3 and 0.9.4, but compared to the other bulky, long-game attackers, it lacks self-healing, and is somewhat capped by the lack of a 120+ base power move to leverage its offensive buffs.

This set is for a plant-and fire Gorong that uses Rush to lower its own stamina and give an attack boost, then starts to smash opponents Uppercut, Helicopter Kick, and Hook Kick, managing its stamina to barely drop into Tireless with every attack, lest it damage itself too much with OXing. Nutrition Bar and First-Aid Kit can provide you with some much-needed healing, as well.

Tems that can increase Gorong's bulk, provide side healing, and clear out mentals and digitals are good partners for Gorong.
